Hello everyone,
We started a new Warhammer 40K TIER campaign. Our party started at level 21, so we all have quite the reputation for being badass heroes. We have 5 players: 3 of them are Space Marines, 1 is a Tech Priest, and 1 is a Psyker. We completed our first session yesterday and it went very well.
Below is information about my new Warhammer character, Dr. Grey, Imperium Psyker:
Focused on her mission, she endlessly travels the galaxy in search of knowledge and power for her people. Her greatest desire is to prove her worth and honor her people by giving them a better future. She works as a navigator, using psionic powers to send ships through warp and guide them safely to their destinations. She also works as a librarian, maintaining the records and histories of her chapter. She tries to avoid combat with diplomacy, but she’ll end it quickly if it starts. She works well with others but won’t give them a second chance if they give her cause to doubt or betray her. She keeps a magic journal for notes, maps, private thoughts, and art.
Dr. Grey Autobiography:
As a child, I lived on a planet that was heavily influenced by Aeldari because there was a history of them living on the planet and fighting against the Imperium for control. As a result, my people had ancient Aeldari teachings and stories passed on throughout the generations that improved our capability as human Psykers. The Imperium eventually discovered my psychic powers and took me in for further training and work.
At first, I was worried that I wouldn't be good enough. But I quickly grew in power and gained experience as a Navigator and Librarian. All seemed well until I began feeling pain and side effects from my Psyker abilities. I immediately sought advice from my people back home. They were concerned and told me to keep it a secret and endure the pain. They also told me to never accept physical augmentations and work hard to buy my own ship. I followed their advice; undertook dangerous missions with a higher payout, saved money for a few years, and bought my own ship.
My pain and suffering had greatly increased over the years, and I once again sought the aid of my people. They told me I was ready to learn about an ancient myth that may be my only hope for an optimal future. They spoke of a legend; a powerful Aeldari Psyker that transcended his physical form and became a humanoid star. As a human, I was obviously skeptical and thought only an Aeldari could achieve such a feat, but my people desperately convinced me that I had no choice. They taught me the history of many unfortunate human Psykers in the Imperium who have become corrupted by chaos or betrayed by their bodies and left crippled or dead. They explained that consenting to physical augmentations only delays the inevitable and slowly changes you into an unrecognizable monster.
I wanted to live a healthy life, continue serving the Imperium, and protect my people, so I risked everything and traveled in my own ship across the universe. My people did not know many details of how the Aeldari transformed, but it obviously had something to do with the stars, so I studied many stars and looked for key differences. I figured that if an Aeldari was able to survive the transformation, then it must be a special star with a unique energy/radiation.
After a month, I was still not any closer to finding an answer, until one day when I got annoyed and impatient. I angrily exerted my psychic powers into space and noticed a reaction from a nearby star. I quickly realized I did not need to find a special star; any star could work if combined with my psychic powers. I concluded that the humanoid star transformation was not an accident or stroke of luck, it was an extremely dangerous procedure requiring powerful psychic energy to control and absorb star energy into myself to slowly alter my own body.
I spent weeks carefully researching and planning the procedure, calculating all data points, errors, outcomes, and countermeasures. I soon performed the procedure upon myself; it took hours of agonizing pain and was nearly unbearable, but I knew that working slow and steady would prevent mistakes. I ultimately succeeded and transformed myself into a humanoid star just like the legend. I briefly visited my home planet and my people were thrilled about the results.
Afterwards, I returned to the Imperium, feeling confident and ready to work again as a loyal Psyker, but I was immediately quarantined, examined, and questioned. I suspected this would happen and prepared my research and full explanations in advance. Their number one question was if the procedure could be duplicated. I explained that every individual is different in mind, body, and soul, and their respective Psyker powers are connected as well, so the only chance of success is to transform themselves. However, even the slightest error with the star energy or misunderstanding of one’s own mind, body, soul, and Psyker powers could cause death.
Most leaders of the Imperium wanted me dead, considering me a serious threat and an abomination. However, Inquisitor Greyfax suddenly spoke up and said, “How dare you strike down a loyal Psyker without the chance to prove herself. You wish to smite her into eternal damnation for performing a procedure to improve herself? How is that any different than the Imperium performing surgeries and augmentations on soldiers for the same purpose? Let me test her might and loyalty.”
Everyone was flabbergasted that such a powerful inquisitor took interest in me. With no other choice, the Imperium leaders agreed with Inquisitor Greyfax and released me into her custody.
I spent years on the brink of death, fighting enemies of the Imperium and supporting The Sisters of Silence in battle. Thankfully I survived and was thoroughly tested for my sanity and loyalty to the Imperium. I passed their tests and was summoned back to society. However, I was not brought back for celebration or vacation. I was introduced to my new superior and fellow brothers, then debriefed for an upcoming mission.
